PESI Representative Partakes in SME Panel

PESI Board Member Farid Malikov attended the SME Panel Meeting organized in Vilnius on 26th and 27th November 2013.

The Panel started with the presentation and discussion of the SME Policy Index 2015, the 2nd Round of SBA Assessment, and SME Competitiveness Reforms in the Eastern Partner Countries, outlining concrete implementation of policy reforms, increased responsiveness from governments towards SME needs, importance of public private dialogue and cooperation between SME stakeholders. This was complemented by hands-on accounts from Georgia and Moldova sharing best practices and experiences on SME specific developments.

The meeting participants debated the efficiency of SME Flagship Initiatives such as East Invest, STAREP and the SME Finance Facility, as well as DCFTA impact on SMEs and the idea of an Eastern Partnership Network of SME Envoys in meeting the needs of SMEs and achieving the desired impacts on private sector development while tackling competitiveness and growth.

The event was organised by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, and attended by representatives of business support organizations, economic experts, members of business community from EaP, the EU and international organizations.
